Academic Positions

Dr. Cornelia Wallner is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna, Austria. From 2010 to 2024, she worked as a Post-Doc Researcher in the rank of an Assistant Professor (“Habilitandin”) at the Department of Media and Communication at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, at the chairs of Prof. Wolfram Peiser and Prof. Thomas Hanitzsch. Cornelia worked as Research Project Lead in an international Erasmus+ Project (2016-2017) at Zeppelin University, where she was also awarded a Post-doc Fellowship at the chair of Prof. Nico Stehr, PhD, FRSC (2009-2010), Research Fellow (2011), as Lecturer and Predoctoral Researcher at the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna (2005-2009), and Lecturer at the European Peace University EPU, Austria (2008-2010). She gained her PhD at the University of Vienna (2007) under the supervison of Prof. Hannes Haas. 

Professional Experience

Cornelia has extensive experience in applied social research from various projects and professional engagements in market research and brand consultancy as well as a freelance consultant. Amongst others, she worked with Sora Institute Vienna, Fraunhofer IAO Stuttgart, Serviceplan Group Munich, and Austrian Airlines.

As a trained journalist (RadioMax), Cornelia also has practical experience in journalism, and as a longtime board member in a childcare facility she has hands-on experience in corporate communications.
